Music is split into genre and sub genres. All genres have different aspects such as music videos, instruments,lyrics and meaning. For example most RnB songs are about love and sex. Whereas rock/indie is about most matters such as political matters or death. here is a list of every single music genre.

Star image in videos

Famous star featuring in there own music  videos attracts all types of audiences and some viewers just watching the video for that person/star to appear.However some not so well known actors dont star in there videos this is because most people dont know who they are. Also another key factor is that sometimes because of the specific genre hiphop and rock most artist sound the same and have to show themselves in the vidoes.
Another factor that determines whether a star is in its video is there gender. Some artist are reffered to as 'sex symbols' and therefore will be in there video.
Here we can see Cheryl almost intiscing her audience to watch her video this shows her confident appearance and selling her video with face.


Here we can see that a drumnbass genred song has no band members in it just one single male mouthing the words this is because with drum and bass genred song its hard to incorporate all band members due to the pace and tempo of the song

Our original idea.

As a group with have collectedly decided to base our video on the Mint Royale 'Blue Song'. We are going along the lines of a bank robbery and have a modern style heist genre. We liked this idea as we could customise it and add in our modernise touch. We wanted to base it also upon the Snathc scene where they rob a bank we like the fast paced action shots and music is played parallel over the video. We also have our own music to go with the song played by a freinds band which also adds a different aspect and be unique to everyone elses video.
The First scene will be the robbers in the car and planning the duration times of the robbery.

Our second idea was to film a day out on the football teraces we were going to use the song kasbian 'club foot ' on a Peterborough united fc away day. Then we cut to a seen of us miming the song.

Our third was a road trip down country roads using stardust and daft punk  'The music sounds better with you'

Possible choices for our music video

Here is one choice for our Music video and in our view the most favourable. We have thought about going to London to shoot our video, we intend to film whilst going to a football match and all the days occurances.


This is Stardust- music sounds better with you. We have thought of this upbeat track we can go on a road trip through the country side and filming in Northern Ireland.

 Here is our third choice its Haddaway this is love we have decided to choose this because we wanted songs from different eras we were thinking about a break up clip with girls one side dancing a boys the other and both sets weiry of them hurting each other.

Analysis of a video

The video that I am analysing is Simian mobile disco VS Justice - We Are Your Friends. The video belongs to the music genre of Electro / Psychedelic / Alternative. This genre's broad characteristics include DJ sets with crowds and bizarre storylines. The relationship between the lyrics and the visuals creates an idea of irony. For example the lyrics state We Are Your Friends, whilst simultaneously we view an individual experiencing a practical joke as a cat gets thrown at him whilst asleep. The relationship between the visuals and the music allows the cuts to be in time with the beat. There are no solo instrumental sections as the video is all-visual around the concept. The video also changes pace with the music; for example, through the build up there are less cuts and longer shots. This happens during the section 1:00 minute to 1:32 minutes. The use of the extraordinary concept of the video helps to sell this track, as it is recognisable and extravagant. Also the combination of the two artists justice and simian mobile disco combining, will have a considerable effect on the size of the audience. Throughout the video there is no appearance from the actual artists. However the audience can create an image of the artist after having watched the video. As the artists are combined they have not released any previous music videos together. The videos of simian mobile disco are however eccentric and unusual for example "Its The Beat" roughly matches the style of "We Are Your Friends". There are no specific motifs followed on from other videos, as it is just a spontaneous video that is unrelated to any other work done by either Justice or Simian Mobile Disco. Even though I would not say that this brands them as achieving a new image, it can although be categorised with some previous work. As the artist does not appear in the video they cannot have been put on sexual display. Considering the other actors within the video there is also no use of sexual display by male or female individuals. There are no other factors within the video linking to the use of sexual display. This music video is approximately 90% concept based and 10% narrative based. This is because there is no performance and the whole video is shots of foolish tricks performed to recovering individuals.
